New Interface: responsive repairs and gas servicing
interface between IBS and Causeway.

Two Castles

Posted December 14th, 2011

Epix Systems are pleased to announce the successful implmentation of an interface between their customers Causeway/Vixensoft system and TCHA's IBS Open Housing to exchange job and event details for responsive repairs and scheduled gas service jobs.

MARKUS® AMS is acting as an interface portal between the two systems. Jobs received from the client are checked for valid property details and relevant SORs before being interfaced on to the contractors system. Status changes and completion details are received back from the contractor and translated into the required format for IBS to receive the information.

One of the key challenges of this interface was to buffer the client system from the contractor system to allow for improved processing of the interface files. Once jobs have been received into MARKUS® the service jobs are scheduled up using a diary view of the previously scheduled work. Any errors diagnosed by the interface can be viewed and corrected before re-interfacing.

For more details of the interfacing and integration that MARKUS® can deliver please visit our Integration page.

Cura Facilities Group

Posted October 11th, 2011

Epix Systems are pleased to announce the successful deployment of AMS within Cura Facilities Group. The system implemented on day one included mobile working and job control. Following the success to date, we are now looking at adding integrated purchasing.

Over the course of the first fortnight, Epix delivered three days of training and implementation support at Cura's offices in Hampshire to ensure they had the assistance they required for a successful deployment. Although Epix provided the training for the office staff, the entire mobile workforce was trained in–house by their own supervisors in less than a morning.

There are always minor teething issues and Epix is working closely with Cura to resolve these as part of their commitment to provide a solution that delivers the maximum possible benefit. In the words of their Director, Dean Churcher, "Things are shaping up nicely here."

Cura are hoping that their use of cutting edge technology will enable them to grow their turnover and workforce whilst providing a stable and robust platform to control and manage the whole organisation.

Service Management Expo 2011 – A Big Success!

Posted September 26th, 2011

A big thank you to everyone who visited our stand at the recent SME in Birmingham on the 20th–21st September. Both days were filled with interesting discussions between us and a large variety of organisations involved with service management. One of the key themes that recurred throughout the show was the need to provide instant access to management information in an easily digestible form – for which our tailored dashboard widgets proved to be a big draw.

Over the two days we were approached by a number of smaller organisations who had found that many of the larger CAFM and Service Management software companies were not willing to talk to them because of their size. This continues to demonstrate our success at providing systems to suit a wide spectrum of companies – from small family run firms with a couple of engineers, to businesses with many hundreds of engineers.

We were also pleased to be able to give visitors hands–on experience of our mobile software running on a variety of platforms including the very sleek Dell Streak 7 tablet. With the addition of a protective case this proved to be a very popular device for field service engineers as it provides a good mix of ruggedness and sleek consumer looks.

If you spoke to us at the show then we should have already been in contact with you. If you missed us, or we have missed you then please visit our Contact Us page for details about how to get in touch.

Android Mobile Working

Android

Posted April 28th, 2011

Epix Systems have recently added Android to the list of platforms that they support. The development of this latest PDA release has been done in parallel with existing JavaME platform development to ensure feature parity between Windows PDAs and Android.

Support for Android greatly increases the number and variety of phones available from UK carriers as part of a cell phone contract whilst continuing support for Windows Mobile gives customers access to the existing range of rugged handhelds available from specialists.

Development of the Android version started late in 2010 with the first release version available in Spring 2011. The quick turn around from inception to release was possible due to the ease of deployment and development on Android and also the re-usability of code directly ported from Windows Mobile.

New features available on Android have greatly excited the developers and future releases will build on the reliable base formed by this initial release.

Both platforms are designed to guide engineers through the process of recording information and gather auditable realtime information even in a disconnected environment. For more information about Epix Systems' mobile products please visit our Products page.
