After starting at EPIX back in September 2020, I graduated last summer with a first-class honours degree in Digital and Technology Solutions from Manchester Metropolitan University.
The choice to do an apprenticeship degree over the traditional university experience was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Four years ago, I was starting a new job at 18, in the middle of a global pandemic – now I’m a graduate starting the next phase of my career.
Throughout this experience, I’ve been given the opportunity to gain valuable skills and expand my knowledge inside and outside of the workplace. I plan to continue developing these skills and expanding my knowledge whilst I continue this journey.
On the day of my graduation, I was joined by my family, friends and colleagues to celebrate my achievements. I was grateful they were all able to join me for the ceremony, some in person and some via a live stream. After graduation, the university held an event with food and drinks to celebrate the new graduates where I said goodbye to my skills coach and lecturers who had supported me over my time at the university.
Looking to the future, it is already noticeable that the interest in completing an apprenticeship degree is increasing. If I could give some advice to any student who is considering this path, I would say to make the most of your experiences, believe in yourself and your skills, and most importantly, have fun.
