Why an apprenticeship?
As you probably already know, an apprenticeship is a mix of work and study. You still get to meet loads of new people, at both university and work, but you get that sweet, sweet experience alongside it with absolutely no debts.
I think many people’s worries about apprenticeships stem from missing out on the social life that a university experience provides, however there are still plenty of social experiences open to the apprentices. University clubs, freshers’ week, weekends with friends, all available to enjoy with the added bonus of having enough money to afford them all.
Now, apprenticeships are by no means any easier than university, it takes a lot of hard work and a lot more of your time – especially as they take around four years to complete instead of the normal three. However with all the support provided by both EPIX and Manchester Metropolitan University it’s nothing a little perseverance can’t overcome.
Apprenticeships have recently become much more popular, so there are many more companies looking to hire fresh talent. Here at EPIX we look for motivated, passionate and friendly people who will contribute well to the team. There’s never a day without learning, especially with such knowledgeable seniors around.
Why EPIX?
If you’re a dedicated person with a taste for freedom and maturity, it sounds like an apprenticeship is for you. But why would you want to do an apprenticeship here?
Perhaps a better question is, why wouldn’t you? EPIX is full of friendly people, working in a close-knit environment creating new and useful software features for our users every day. Of course, university is difficult, but there is plenty of time allocated to apprentices to help support them with their university assignments. EPIX has been taking apprentices under its wing since 2018, meaning there are experienced graduates around to support you and a deep understanding of the apprenticeship requirements.
I would always advocate choosing an apprenticeship over university due to the quality of knowledge and experience that you learn, and I believe (hopefully non-biasedly!) that EPIX is the perfect place to do so.
