We have passed a milestone with the mobile app “look and feel” changes that we have been working on for the last few months. All screens have now received the updated styling, menus, and icons. Throughout the refactoring of the app, we have maintained the functionality the engineers already use so that there are no re-training needs in this release despite the huge changes. New versions are now available for all customers and we will be contacting you directly if we think you would benefit immediately from the release – and then slowly updating everyone else as part of the ongoing release cycle. Chris has released a short walkthrough video to give an overview of the changes – and everyone should have received a link to that in last month’s MARKUS Monthly newsletter.
We have also had several similar and related requests from some contractors to do with statuses. We have rolled all these together into this release:
- warnings when trying to move a job with uninvoiced costs past approved for charging must now be acknowledged by the user that the costs will never be invoiced
- added the ability to specify how long you expect jobs to remain sitting at a status with a new column in “items requiring action” to highlight the stale jobs – you need to tell us how long these should be and we can easily set them up for you
- implemented a “link status to status” concept to limit the target statuses that users can progress jobs to
These complement the existing pre-defined processes like No Access 1/2/3 etc, variation requests, and other auto-progression status changes in the system.
New Features
- Added KPI for statuses to allow reporting on jobs stuck at a status longer than expected – please let us know how long you would like this setting to
- Added warning when progressing a job with costs beyond the normal invoicing process
- Added the ability to further limit available statuses when editing a job
- Added a filter for “source supplier” to F-Gas cylinder levels report
- Added supplier’s postcode to the supplier chase auto-email
- Overhauled the document viewer for risk assessment / method statement viewing when completing pre-visit risk assessments
- Added new letter substitutions for previous letter dates and no access dates
- Added a new dashboard widget to show live jobs split by their age – and many options to (pivot) breakdown by attributes of the jobs
- Added routing to the supplier invoice entry process to loop back to enter a new invoice after saving if the screen was launched from the menu rather than from the order sheet
- Changed cash posting to pre-populate the outstanding sales invoice value
Changes For A Single Contractor
- Timesheets live with another contractor – including overtime rules and lunchtime deductions
- Changes to an existing timesheet to handle overnight working on the first or last day of the period
- Two new mobile app builds to onboard new contractors
- New mobile app build to provide a “client view” to allow for H&S surveys

Bug Fixes
- Fixed drag-and-dropping attachments to the jobsheet to respect the system options controlling default visibility to client and engineers
- Fixed character limit on job sales lines to remove the incorrect limits inherited from general job description
- Added two additional columns to the dashboard WIP panel to bring into sync with the standard WIP report
- Fixed project telephone number report to added extra whitespace to SQL when auto-appending user level restrictions
- Fixed invoice matching error caption that was always appearing on every invoice even when the values matched
