Jess talks us through the changes that have happened since her graduation from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Last year I graduated from MMU with a first-class degree in Digital and Technology Solutions. After working towards this and my apprenticeship qualification with EPIX Systems over the four-year course, I was delighted to be offered a full time position working with the company. A year on, my role has changed and I have gained more responsibility within EPIX.
During my apprenticeship degree, I worked on a variety of projects, developing my skills and knowledge about EPIX and MARKUS, and learning more about the systems we produce. Over time, I found that I naturally gravitated towards customer facing tasks – I enjoy interacting with our customers and being able to help solve their real-world issues.
I have been able to use these skills to expand my job role and take on new responsibilities. I have recently had the opportunity to work with a new customer, implementing their system from scratch and providing training and support for the company throughout the process. This has allowed me to shift my role from developer to a support and implementations developer. With this new role, I hope to interact more with our customers, build relationships and become a key member of the support and implementation team.
I could not have pictured where I would be today when I started this journey five years ago. I am grateful to everyone at EPIX for the support and mentoring I have received and the opportunities they have given me. As I continue my career with EPIX Systems, I am excited to take on more implementations and continue to further develop my role as both a developer and a valued member of the support and implementation team.
